Appointments files, 1820-1821.

This series contains correspondence relating to appointments, commissions and resignations. A large portion of the correspondence, which is dated 1820 Sept. - Dec., consists of resignations from judges of various county courts in the state. Also included is a letter of resignation from Senator William Metcalf, a letter concerning a vacancy which has occurred in Clarke Co. due to the refusal of the appointed judges to qualify for the posts, and general letters of resignation from various state and local officials, 1821. Some items are addressed to the General Assembly, but were forwarded to the Governor for his action.
